Cats For Kids (Future Olympians Sought)
Even though the 2012 London Olympics are still 2 years away the sailing community is already looking further into the future to find the Olympic medallists of the future.
Over the weekend of 27/28 March, UKCRA (UK Catamaran Racing Association) are holding TRY CATAMARAN SAILING days at Datchet Water Sailing Club on the Queen Mother Reservoir near Heathrow.
Open to all children between 10 and 17 years old the weekend’s activities are aimed not only at those who have sailed before but also at those who have never even stepped onto a boat.
Those with some experience will be offered a full days training under expert supervision leading to the possibility of chartering a Hobie Cat Dragoon, one of the RYA’s Junior Recognised ClassYouth catamarans, whilst those who have never sailed before will get a chance to try out one of Britain’s most successful Olympic medal winning sports.
Reg White, Olympic Gold medallist at the first ever Olympics sailed with catamarans back in 1976 and regarded as one of the founding fathers of this extremely popular sport said "The best way to ensure even more British medals in the future is to get kids interested and enthusiastic at an early age. That’s why these ‘TRY A CAT’ events are so important to the future of British sailing"

Match Racing Training:
May 9-15th 2010
Join Ewan McEwan, the man the RYA have given the task of ensuring our girls pick up the medals in Weymouth 2012 on a one week match race training course in Vassiliki.
Even if you’ve not a dedicated match racer you will benefit from an increased understanding of the new 2009-2012 rules as well as gaining tips on boat handling, mark rounding, starting and finishing and defending and at tacking boats nearby. The training will be in SB3’s and Laser 1’s - the first day will be spent familiarizing yourself with the boats and the rest of the week putting principles into practice.

Catamaran Race With The Tornado European Champions:
June 13th-18th 2010
Join Kostas Trigonis and Jordanis Paschalides, the 2008 and 2007 Tornado class European Champions. All aspects of cat racing will be covered from tuning and setting up boats for different conditions, advance preparations for regattas, how the new rules affect strategy and tactics, defining a strategy before the start and then reappraising that strategy as the race develops, how to decide which way to go up (or down) a course, best angles up and downwind for varying conditions, mark rounding and so on. Training will take place on Tornados, Hobie Fox and Hobie Tigers and Hobie 16’s.

Ionian Regatta 2010

Now in its 22nd year the Wildwind catamarans join in the annual long distance race around the small uninhabited island of Arkoudi just off the Lefkas mainland before heading into Sivota harbour for dinner, prizegiving and an excellent party.
