Wildwind Sailing Holidays are based in Vassiliki , a pretty little fishing village at the south of the Ionian island of Lefkas, famous for the fantastic sailing and windsurfing conditions in its bay. The village, like most of the island, has escaped the ravages of modern day tourism and maintains its charming Greek island character.

Along the harbourside you will find a number of tavernas, restaurants and bars - as well as a small selection of shops, travel agents, mini markets and two excellent bakeries. A ferry leaves twice daily to the nearby islands of Cephalonia and Ithaca, and there are also tour boats to nearby beaches.

Lefkas is a stunningly beautiful island, with an enormous variety of landscape ranging from the softer pine covered east coast of the island with more development to sleepy mountainside villages and breathtaking beaches on the west coast. Mt Stavrota, clearly visible above the orange and olive groves directly behind Vassiliki bay, rises to nearly 1200 metres.

If you hire a car for a day you'll discover Sappho's leap at Cape Lefkada, Porto Katsiki and Egremni beaches, the picturesque village of Agio Nikolaos, the bustling island centre of Lefkas town and its ancient windmills, waterfalls at Rachi and Sivota's extraordinary natural harbour.
